Higher Holway, provided the perfect setting for the recent Educational Study Tour held on the 30th October. These specialist seminars where aimed at addressing key areas of change that will influence play provision for the future.
Keynote speakers included Aileen Shackell – lead author of the recently published Design for Play guide (Play England and the DCSF) and Karen Hughes from Taunton Deane Council. Karen spoke about the Higher Holway Project and the consultation methods that were employed to help make the park a success.
The seminar was attended by over 20 delegates and included a visit to the site opening of Higher Holway Park. Higher Holway is one of the first play areas in the UK to benefit from Fair Play monies and has been designed through a landscaped led approach to creating fun, and challenging play opportunities that compliment the natural surroundings.

Feedback from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive and many delegates commented that they rarely get the opportunity to absorb so much valuable, current information in such a digestible format.
